We're getting warm now, finally. Here, just east of the Rockies we have Chinook winds. A Chinook brings with it heat of another kind. Strictly speaking it's not so much heat that it brings as it is a gentle warming. Warming winds that bring not only physical relief from the cold but thoughts also. Thoughts of all things warm. The spring that hasn't yet come and the summer that will follow. The garden and get-togethers you'll have there; the warm evening trail rides you'll be on and those naps you like to take in the hammock on those hot lazy afternoons.
For the time that your mind has wandered down that Chinook induced path of the warmth to come, you've probably warmed up to the idea that although it's not here yet it will soon come. A small but much appreciated respite from the frigid Canadian Winter.
Hang on, spring is almost here. I love this world.
Very calming prose, Howard. It is an excellent representation of the unique and peaceful nature of the mountains. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written. I miss the chinooks, but I don't miss the cold Canadian winters!
ReplyDeleteI moved from Winnipeg in 1986 because of the Chinooks. This is also why I stay.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Terry
