I have a buddy who lives in one of those communities that has a man-made lake. I love fishing, especially ice fishing and several times he’s invited me to come over to fish with him. But the thought of hanging out at a man-made lake surrounded by houses and other things suburban, never really appealed to me. What about nature; getting away from it all; surviving the great outdoors?
Well, I’ll tell you what?! What a hoot. I finally relented and went, more so just to shut him up than anything else.
They stock these lakes so there’s no shortage of fish. It was an absolute feeding frenzy which made for an incredible fishing experience. I ended up keeping a 4 pounder and after about 3 hours we packed up and went home. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t tried it; it’s a blast.
I have to admit the short drive home afterwards wasn’t too hard to take either.
I had no idea these lakes were stocked with fish for ice fishing. Nice that it's so close to home.
